At the Swedish Migration Agency, we work with one of the major societal issues of our time – migration. In total, we are about 6,000 people here, and we have an unusually important job!

We are looking for a Statistician for the Statistics and Analysis Unit.

The migration area is currently undergoing significant changes due to various external factors such as the EU's migration pact, the government's reform policies, and the geopolitical security situation. In light of these changes, the agency needs to strengthen its analytical capacity and shape the future of statistical production.

As an employee at the Swedish Migration Agency, you can expect a rewarding job in a dynamic environment characterized by a focus on continuous improvement, collaboration, and respect for individuals.

You will belong to the Statistics and Analysis Unit, which is part of the Planning Department. The unit is responsible for the agency's overall statistics and consists of 18 colleagues located in Norrköping and Sundbyberg. The unit has a wide range of expertise, with employees working on statistical inquiries, monitoring, forecasting, predictive work, as well as development and maintenance tasks. The unit collaborates extensively with other units within the department as well as with other departments.

Main Responsibilities

As a statistician, you will develop and manage the agency's overall statistics together with other employees in the unit. You will primarily produce statistics both internally within the agency and externally for the Government Offices, other authorities, companies, interest organizations, and the public. The work may also include investigations and statistical analyses.

Personal Competencies

We are looking for a person who has the ability to take initiative and to independently plan and drive work forward. You work equally well independently and in a group, and you are helpful, service-oriented, and have good collaboration skills. You are unpretentious, structured, and have the ability to find suggestions for improvements and new solutions. You thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment. You are humble and inclusive, willingly sharing your knowledge and are skilled at communicating complex relationships in a pedagogical way to individuals without a statistical background. Furthermore, you need to be curious about the agency's mission and operations and how they relate to the statistical activities.

We want you to have:

  • an academic degree with a focus on statistics, or other education that the Swedish Migration Agency assesses as equivalent with at least 90 ECTS credits in statistics
  • experience in statistical production
  • good programming skills in SQL and/or SAS
  • good communication skills and express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and English

It is advantageous if you have:

  • experience in statistical development in a government agency/public administration
  • experience in specifying requirements and logic for handling registrations in processing systems
  • experience working with large relational databases
  • experience and good knowledge of the Swedish Migration Agency's mission and operations

Employment Type: Permanent employment
